Paradise Lost

Somebody should take this place
And burn it to the ground
Do it when the sun is high
And the money is around
Push the boats out
And turn them over to the sea
Take your wealthy hands
Off of me

I propose we raise a toast
And hold our glasses high
Salute the sand and mountain air
And keep them in our eye
For the time waits
But no one waits for passing time
To see what you had
And let it die

A trade that simply left your hands
But never left your view
A broken back and hardened skin
Fails to seduce
When you’re given
A castle perched upon a sea
But your true stronghold’s
Beneath your feet

Bella Sardegna is home
Kept from the money and their troves
Like the Barbagia you’ll fight
But everything it seems has its price

Somebody should take this place
And burn it to the ground
Start again with real foresight
And never hear the sound
Of your own kind
Crave for what they haven’t got
Of this paradise
Getting lost
