Heavy Head

I don’t ever want to be
Unhinged emotionally
Beaten and then left for dead
Unbutton myself
Just to help someone else
And there’s never a space that’s alone
Pushed towards poverty
Drunken calamity
Flicking my switch all the time
So control my empathy
Look what’s inside of me
Before I open my hands

I hear what my father said
Holding a heavy head
“Don’t go back where you came from
Be honest with yourself
Get out of your comfort zone
And have a fucking ball”

Constantly worrying
What I’ve done wrong again
But what control do I have
I try to apologise
Talk to the peoples eyes
So why a turbulent head
It’s up and then down
Then a smile then a frown
I consistently wish I was one
But as soon as I’ve set my path
It just comes crawling back
Question myself once again

I hear what my father said
Holding a heavy head
“Don’t go back where you came from
Be honest with yourself
Get out of your comfort zone
And have a fucking ball”
